    Denise Mitchell Interiors adds Interior Designer/CAD Technician. Denise Mitchell is pleased to announce the addition of Sheri Maxted, CAD Technician and Interior Designer, to her growing team. “We realized the need to upgrade our drafting and CAD services in the Campbell River area, which enables us to reach out to more homeowners and businesses who need more technical drawings for their projects,” says business owner, Densie Mitchell. “Sheri comes to us from IDG ( The Interior Design Group) in Nanaimo where she was employed as a Designer and CAD Technician for the last three years. She has a Drafting Certificate and an Interior Design Diploma from Vancouver Island University.”

    What great summer weather! All of us at St. Jean's Cannery hope that all of you are able to get out and enjoy the best of Campbell River. We're seeing some very nice sport fish coming through the store for processing - the Cannery and Smokehouse in Nanaimo is working hard to make sure your orders are prepared and shipped as quickly as possible.     Stewart Hawthorn has been appointed as the new Managing Director of Greig Seafood’s Canadian division, Grieg Seafood BC, to replace the present MD, Peter Gibson, who retires this year. Stewart, who comes from Scotland and has an M.Sc. in aquaculture from Stirling, will start on September 13th at their headquarters in Campbell River. For the last 13 years, Stewart has been the general manager of New Zealand King Salmon. Stewart’s long career in salmon farming started as site manager for Marine Harvest in Scotland, before he moved to New Brunswick where he held the position as production manager for three years prior to moving to New Zealand.

    Sarah Wright has returned to Campbell River after gaining valuable experience as a Registered Kinesiologist and Certified Exercise Specialist. As the owner of Heart Strong Fitness, Sarah will be running exercise programs for the young and “more mature.” Take Heart is a 12 week exercise program for people with chronic conditions. It is offered at the Strathcona Gardens Recreation Centre. Sarah also runs Heart Strong Families; a family friendly outdoor exercise and Heart Strong Boomers; a middle-aged friendly outdoor exercise class.   • Campbell River Art Gallery
    The CR Art Gallery will hold the city’s first Wearable Art Fashion Show and Art Auction on August 6 at 7:00 p.m. The pieces you’ll see here are pure whimsy, the imaginative creations of some very talented artists. Another feature of the evening is an art auction of work inspired by our community which is currently on exhibition in a show called Local Views. The exhibition and auction is sponsored by Kask Graphics and CR Physiotherapy. Tickets are $35, which includes a glass of wine and appetizers.

    Currently on exhibition in the Main Gallery is local artist Mary Donlan with Into the Garden.
    The gallery, with admission by donation is open Monday – Saturday from 10am – 5pm.

  • Museum at Campbell River
    his summer, the Museum is again offering historic guided boat tours on Sundays until the end of September. Take this great opportunity to enjoy Discovery Marine Safaris comfortable boats while you learn about the Discovery Islands. On August 1st, the trip will be to Sonora Island with a lunch stop at Dent Island. For other destinations, lunch is included onboard.
